Luring More than Fish

Entanglement in fishing line may see like a rare occurrence, but in the world of wildlife rehabilitation it is quite common.

This Great Blue Heron (24-72) was admitted to the clinic after Green Lane park staff noticed that the bird was tangled in fishing line. After a thorough examination, rehabilitation staff found large fish hooks embedded in the Heron’s legs. The hooks were carefully extracted while the heron was under sedation to decrease stress and pain. Luckily, this bird made a full recovery and was released back to the park.
